Recap: Leroy Greene Academy Lions vs. Elite Eagles
The Leroy Greene Academy Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their seventh straight loss. They fell to Elite 42-38. Leroy Greene Academy lost against Elite in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 50-15 score last time.
Elite can attribute much of their success to Jeneyah Fowler, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Fowler has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Rhema Armstrong, who scored 11 points along with seven steals.
Leroy Greene Academy dropped their record down to 1-7 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Elite, their win ended a 11-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-18.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Leroy Greene Academy will challenge Westlake Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Westlake Charter's defense has only allowed 29.2 points per game this season, so Leroy Greene Academy's offense will have their work cut out for them. Elite will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against John Adams Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 25th. John Adams Academy's defense has only allowed 28.9 points per game this season, so Elite's offense will have their work cut out for them.
