Baseball Recap: Great Oak Takes a Loss

Great Oak and Newport Harbor squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Great Oak had to settle for second. They fell 4-1 to the Sailors. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Wolfpack couldn't push the score so high this time.

Great Oak got a good showing from Evan Hampton, who didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Furthermore, Hampton didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2025.

At the plate, Great Oak saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sam Pink, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one run.

Great Oak's defeat dropped their record down to 17-11-1. As for Newport Harbor, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 21-9.

Great Oak does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Newport Harbor, they will take on Aquinas at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Sailors 2.8, the Falcons 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
