Softball Recap: Rampart Takes a Loss

Rampart extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 3-11. They came up short against the Palisade Bulldogs, falling 16-0. The Rams were not able to make up for their loss to the Bulldogs from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.

As for Palisade, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-5. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by seven runs or more this season.

For Palisade's part, Chloe Cummings was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Cummings was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Palisade got a massive performance out of MacKenzie Gray, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most hits Gray has posted since back in August. Another player making a difference was Jamyson Mancuso, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles.

Coming up, Rampart will challenge Fruita Monument at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Rams' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season. As for Palisade, they have already played their next contest, a 7-4 win against Heritage on the 26th.
