Baseball Recap: Columbus Wins Going Away Against Kendrick

Columbus never got on the board in their matchup last Thursday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Kendrick on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Cherokees. The victory continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their matchups with the Cherokees: they've now won six in a row.

Martin Heim looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

At the plate, Michael Nottleman was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Caden Bryans, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Columbus was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .571. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Columbus now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Kendrick, they are on a 22-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.

Columbus wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 7-0 loss against Troup County on the 31st. As for Kendrick, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Spencer at 5:30 p.m. on the 11th.
