Basketball Recap: Tipton Comes Up Short

Tipton played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 41-20 to the Mississinewa Indians. The Blue Devils lost against the Indians in their previous head to head back in January of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 64-21 score last time.

Despite the loss, Tipton saw an underclassman step up: freshman Shelby Fernung posted five points and three steals. Those three steals gave Fernung a new career-high.

Jaci Crick continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Mississinewa, putting up 13 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklynn Nash, who had ten points and three steals.

Tipton is on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-14. As for Mississinewa, their win bumped their record up to 6-9.

Tipton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 52-21 defeat against Madison-Grant on the 8th. As for Mississinewa, they will challenge Manchester at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
