Baseball Recap: Sandy Creek Comes Up Short

Sandy Creek was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 10-0 to the Mary Persons Bulldogs, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Patriots of the 17-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2019.

Sandy Creek saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cameron Layfield, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Sandy Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 5-14-1. As for Mary Persons, their win bumped their record up to 5-12.

While Sandy Creek had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
