Softball Recap: Grand Junction Central Comes Up Short

Fruita Monument hit Grand Junction Central with a four-run first inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Warriors came up short against the Wildcats, falling 7-1. The Warriors haven't had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Grand Junction Central saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Davanee Young, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Grand Junction Central's loss dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Fruita Monument, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-3.

Looking ahead, Grand Junction Central will take on Heritage in a tournament on Friday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season. As for Fruita Monument, they will welcome Castle View at 2:30 p.m. on Friday.
