Basketball Recap: Notre Dame Comes Up Short

After flying high against Sacred Heart Prep last Friday, Notre Dame came back down to earth. The Notre Dame Regents took a blow against the Pinewood Panthers on Tuesday, falling 70-36. The Regents' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Pinewood got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Vallory Kuelker out in front who went 7 for 16 on her way to 22 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. Kuelker has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Katherine Garr, who went 6 of 12 en route to 17 points and six boards.

Notre Dame's loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Pinewood, they pushed their record up to 16-3 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Notre Dame will head out to take on Priory on Friday. Priory is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.8 points per game this season. As for Pinewood, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Menlo School at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pinewood knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Menlo School likes a good challenge.
