Baseball Recap: Saint Mary's Drops Highest Score of Season Against Hercules

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Saint Mary). They came out on top against the Hercules Titans by a score of 10-7 on Tuesday. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Titans recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Brandon Sanchez made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Jed Volpe was incredible, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2. Nico Pilara also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.

Saint Mary's hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in three consecutive matches.

Saint Mary's record now sits at 2-5. As for Hercules, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7-1.

Looking ahead, Saint Mary's will be playing at home against Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Hercules, they will head out on the road to take on De Anza at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
