Softball Recap: Lamar Takes a Loss

Lamar extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping them down to 1-4. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 12-10 heartbreaker at the hands of the Strasburg Indians. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Thunder have suffered since September 6, 2024.

Carlin Weber and Alexa Aguilar did some serious damage despite the final result: Weber went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI, while Aguilar went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run. That run was Weber's first of the season. Natalie Aguilar was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

As for Strasburg, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-1. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 5.5 runs across that stretch.

On Strasburg's side, the team relied heavily on Addi Kent, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. With that strong performance, Kent is now averaging an impressive 2.2 runs per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Wynne Winter, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

Lamar wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 4-0 victory against Wray/Yuma on the 26th. As for Strasburg, they will square off against Gunnison at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
