Basketball Recap: Desert Mirage Takes a Loss

Desert Mirage was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 17th straight loss dating back to last season. They were dealt a 76-15 defeat at the hands of the Banning Broncos. The RAMS lost against the Broncos in their previous head to head back in January of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 47-9 score last time.

Banning's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Nylea Smith, who posted 22 points and six steals. The dominant performance gave Smith a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aerynn Seals, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten boards.

Desert Mirage's loss dropped their record down to 0-13. As for Banning, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.

Desert Mirage has already played their next game, a 35-14 defeat against Desert Chapel on the 10th. As for Banning, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 51-18 win against Cathedral City on the 14th.
