Soccer Game Preview: Chadwick vs. Artesia

The Chadwick Dolphins will face off against the Artesia Pioneers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Chadwick is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. Their defense stepped up to hand Monrovia a 2-0 shutout. Given the Dolphins' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 205th, while the Wildcats are ranked 433rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Amma Melton was the driving force of Chadwick's attack as she scored both of Chadwick's goals, bringing her season total up to six goals.

Meanwhile, Artesia came tearing into Wednesday's contest with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.4 goals) and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single goal of losing the streak, but they secured a 1-0 W against the Mustangs. The Pioneers' defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last eight games.

Artesia pushed their record up to 16-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 22 goals over those four matches. As for Chadwick, their victory bumped their record up to 8-5.
