Softball Recap: Papillion-Lavista Wins Going Away Against Staley

Papillion-LaVista got themselves on the board against Staley on Thursday, but Staley never followed suit. They blew past the Falcons 8-0. The Monarchs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Kaylee Huffman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Huffman was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last three contests.

In other batting news, Reese Haberer was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 15 games. Alexa Taylor was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Papillion-LaVista was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .450. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Staley only posted a batting average of .286.

Papillion-LaVista's record now sits at 17-6. As for Staley, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Coming up, Papillion-LaVista will challenge Lincoln Northeast at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. The Monarchs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rockets have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season. As for Staley, they will take on Lincoln Southwest at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. The Silver Hawks will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Falcons surely won't give up without a fight.
