Softball Recap: Westview Beats Gretna East for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Westview extended their winning streak to four on Saturday, bumping them up to 7-1. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Gretna East Griffins. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wolverines have posted since August 22, 2024.

Westview saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Miller, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.

Westview hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in four consecutive games.

Having lost for the first time this season, Gretna East fell to 5-1. The contest marked their lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

On Gretna East's side, Kendall Johnson was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. Johnson has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Aubrey Horst made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run. Charlotte Beach also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Coming up, Westview is taking a road trip to take on Millard West at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Gretna East, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Waverly at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
