Football Recap: Maranatha Christian Academy Comes Up Short

The matchup between Maranatha Christian Academy and Rossville on Friday hardly resembled the 0-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Eagles took a blow against the Bulldogs, falling 69-0. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas football rankings (they are ranked 234th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 74th).

Canann Mitchell was his usual excellent self, throwing for 155 yards and four TDs while completing 80% of his passes, and also rushing for 53 yards and one touchdown for Rossville. The dominant performance also gave Mitchell a new career-high in passer rating (160.4). Cameron Miller was Mitchell's top target, picking up 89 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Maranatha Christian Academy is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3. As for Rossville, they pushed their record up to 3-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.
