Basketball Recap: Galena Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Mia Turner and Julia Imse

Galena was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 47-40 to the Damonte Ranch Mustangs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Grizzlies this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 64-39 back in January.

Despite the loss, Galena had strong showings from Julia Imse, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 boards, and Mia Turner, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds. Imse is becoming a predictor of Galena's success: when she posts at least ten rebounds the team is 2-1 (and 6-17 when she doesn't). Another player making a difference was Grace Sommers, who posted four points.

Galena's record is now 8-18. As for Damonte Ranch, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-17.

Looking ahead, Galena will challenge McQueen at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Galena is facing McQueen at the right time seeing as McQueen is stuck on a 15-game losing streak. Damonte Ranch does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
