Softball Recap: Jackson County Drops Highest Score of Season Against Alcovy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Jackson County). They were the clear victors by a 15-7 margin over the Alcovy Tigers on Thursday. Winning may never get old, but the Panthers sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Adalyn Mitchell looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Emery Schiffmann, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in September of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ryleigh O'Brien, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Jackson County lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Jackson County's win bumped their record up to 15-4. As for Alcovy, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-21.

Looking ahead, Jackson County will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Habersham Central at 5:30 p.m. As for Alcovy, they will head out on the road to face off against George Walton Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season.
