Baseball Game Preview: University Red Devils vs. Pittsburg Pirates

The University Red Devils will square off against the Pittsburg Pirates at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. University is coming into the contest hot, having won their last ten games.

University is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They skirted past Vintage 11-10. That's two games straight that the Red Devils have won by just one run.

Jett Messenger was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Owen Chee, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

University was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. They are 13-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Pittsburg, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They put the hurt on Antioch with a sharp 10-1 victory on Tuesday. Considering the Pirates have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

University's win bumped their record up to 19-8. As for Pittsburg, their victory bumped their record up to 15-10.
