Baseball Game Preview: Dublin Fighting Irish vs. Telfair County Trojans

The Dublin Fighting Irish are taking a road trip to challenge the Telfair County Trojans at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Dublin has five straight wins, Telfair County has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Dublin made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Dodge County, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Fighting Irish never let the Indians get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory on Tuesday. The Fighting Irish might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 contests by seven runs or more this season.

The result came thanks to Xavier Reese's shutout, as he gave up just four hits and racked up ten Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ryland Yates, who scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Bennett Lake was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases.

Meanwhile, Telfair County came up short against Dodge County on Wednesday, falling 11-1.

Telfair County's defeat dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Dublin, their win bumped their record up to 18-9.

Everything went Dublin's way against Telfair County in their previous meeting back in March, as Dublin made off with an 11-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Fighting Irish since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
