Basketball Game Preview: Lick-Wilmerding Tigers vs. San Domenico Panthers

Lick-Wilmerding and San Domenico are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2021, but not for long. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Lick-Wilmerding Tigers challenge the San Domenico Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Lick-Wilmerding is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Marin Academy: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Lick-Wilmerding blew Marin Academy out of the water with a 58-15 final score. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 30 points or more this season.

Among those leading the charge was Amaya Tavu, who went 5 of 9 on her way to 15 points and three steals. That's the most points she has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Hailey Moy, who went 5 for 6 en route to 13 points.

Lick-Wilmerding smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 26 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, San Domenico took their contest on Monday with ease, bagging a 63-33 victory over Liberty. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.

San Domenico is also on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.7 points per game. As for Lick-Wilmerding, their win bumped their record up to 11-8.

Lick-Wilmerding might still be hurting after the 65-40 loss they got from San Domenico when the teams last played back in January of 2024. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Lick-Wilmerding was down 40-17.
