Football Recap: Armanti Alston Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Columbia

Hobgood Charter's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They blew past the Columbia Wildcats 38-14. The Raiders haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Hobgood Charter got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Armanti Alston out in front who rushed for 162 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 9.5 yards per carry. Another back making a difference was Jacob Tutor, who rushed for 122 yards and one touchdown on only 15 carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Hobgood Charter was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 568 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Hobgood Charter didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off five passes before the game was over. Alston led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself.

Hobgood Charter's record now sits at 3-4. As for Columbia, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Coincidentally, Hobgood Charter and Columbia will both be playing Bear Grass Charter the next time they take the field. The Wildcats will head out to face the Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Raiders will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on the 31st.
