Basketball Recap: Soha Khan Key Part of a Team Effort in Hornets Win

Sanger West hadn't done well against Madera South recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Sanger West Hornets had just enough and edged the Madera South Stallions out 45-43. This was a revenge game for the Hornets: when they faced off against the Stallions back in January, they had to take a 33-27 defeat.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sanger West to victory, but perhaps none more so than Soha Khan, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. Khan's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 19 points. Another player making a difference was Shelbi Castaneda, who posted eight points and five boards.

Several Stallions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was CRYSTALINA BUITRON, who scored 17 points. MICHELLE CORONA was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Sanger West now has a winning record of 14-13. As for Madera South, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-12 record this season.

Sanger West didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 40-35 victory against Madera on the 6th. As for Madera South, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 54-40 win against McLane on the 6th.
