Soccer Game Preview: Pierce vs. Gridley

Pierce is 0-3 against Gridley since December of 2021 but things could change on Thursday. The Pierce Bears will square off against the Gridley Bulldogs at 3:00 p.m. Pierce is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 4 goals per game this season.

Pierce took a loss when they played away from home back in December of 2024, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They blew past Oroville 10-2. Sofia Hernandez Ruiz was a massive factor in the win as she booted in three goals all by herself.

Meanwhile, Gridley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of University Prep. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 967th, while the Panthers are ranked 365th).

Gridley's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7-1. As for Pierce, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Pierce suffered a grim 8-0 defeat to Gridley in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can Pierce avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
