Softball Recap: Wahlert Extends Winning Streak to Four

Wahlert had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Everything went their way against the Prairie City-Monroe Mustangs on Wednesday as they made off with a 7-1 win. Considering the Golden Eagles have won ten matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Wahlert, bringing their record up to 19-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Prairie City-Monroe, with the loss, they broke their seven-game winning streak and moved their record to 26-5.

Wahlert and Prairie City-Monroe are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Golden Eagles will challenge Williamsburg on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Wahlert 2.8, the Raiders 2.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Prairie City-Monroe, they will face off against Albia on Friday.
