Basketball Recap: Ella Moore's Big Game Can't Quite Lead South Williamsport over Central Mountain

South Williamsport lost against Central Mountain back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The South Williamsport Mountaineers took a 62-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Central Mountain Wildcats. The Mountaineers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

South Williamsport's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ella Moore, who went 8-for-15 on her way to 23 points in addition to six steals and five boards. Moore has become a key player for South Williamsport: the team is 5-2 when she posts at least five steals, but 6-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Abby Akers, who posted 19 points and three steals.

South Williamsport's loss dropped their record down to 11-11. As for Central Mountain, they pushed their record up to 10-10 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Looking ahead, South Williamsport will take on Line Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Central Mountain, they have already played their next game, a 56-40 defeat against Milton on the 14th.
