Football Recap: Max Doherty Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Mt. Pleasant

Derry not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since September 20, 2024 (when they won 21-0). Everything went their way against the Mt. Pleasant Vikings as they made off with a 33-13 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Trojans.

Derry got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Max Doherty out in front who rushed for 116 yards and one touchdown. Doherty is becoming a predictor of the Trojans' success: when he posts at least 100 rushing yards the team is 4-2 (and 1-2 when he doesn't). Max Doperak also helped with two TDs in total.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Derry was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 239 rushing yards. They are 3-1 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

Derry now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Mt. Pleasant, this is the second loss in a row for them and also nudges their season record down to 5-4.
