Softball Game Preview: Mid-Buchanan Dragons vs. Maryville Spoofhounds

Mid-Buchanan has gone a perfect 3-0 against Maryville recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Dragons will be playing in front of their home fans against the Spoofhounds at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mid-Buchanan has eight straight victories, Maryville has eight straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Mid-Buchanan lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Lawson, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's matchup. The Dragons blew past the Cardinals 11-1 on Tuesday. Considering the Dragons have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Mid-Buchanan got a great performance from Kaylea Myers as she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and not a single walk). Myers has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Zuzu Kountz was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in October of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Smith, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Maryville fell victim to Savannah and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 18-0 to the Savages.

Mid-Buchanan's win bumped their record up to 17-6. As for Maryville, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.

Mid-Buchanan skirted past Maryville 2-0 in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Do the Dragons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Spoofhounds turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
