Baseball Recap: New Hampstead's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

New Hampstead came into Monday's contest having lost 13 straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They blew past The Habersham School Patriots 11-5 on Monday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Phoenix needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

New Hampstead got a great performance from Cameron Hunt as he pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits.

At the plate, Gage Foskey was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of New Hampstead's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-13 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of RaShawn Truell, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

New Hampstead lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

New Hampstead's win bumped their record up to 6-13. As for The Habersham School, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. New Hampstead will host Benedictine at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cadets will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last. As for The Habersham School, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against St. Andrew's at 4:00 p.m.
