Basketball Recap: Make It Seven in a Row for Summit Charter Collegiate Academy

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Summit Charter Collegiate Academy had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 65-50 victory over the Desert Scorpions. The win was nothing new for the Bears as they're now sitting on seven straight.

Evonie Mendoza was her usual excellent self, putting up 34 points. Her evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Arilina Huerta, who posted 11 points.

Summit Charter Collegiate Academy's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-7. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.2 points over those games. As for Desert, their loss dropped their record down to 18-10.

Coming up, Summit Charter Collegiate Academy will take on Lindsay at 10:00 a.m. on February 28th. Lindsay will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Summit Charter Collegiate Academy surely won't give up without a fight. Desert does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
