Having just played yesterday, the Avalon Lancers will get right back to it and host the Magnolia Science Academy Pirates at 4:00 p.m. on January 24th. Avalon will be strutting in after a victory while Magnolia Science Academy will be coming in after a defeat.
On Tuesday, Avalon earned a 42-32 win over The Webb Schools. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Avalon.
Magnolia Science Academy suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Thursday. They were dealt a 56-18 defeat at the hands of Southlands Christian. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Magnolia Science Academy in their matchups with Southlands Christian: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the defeat, Magnolia Science Academy had strong showings from Elvira Chavez Trujillo, who scored eight points, and Karla Villaverde, who scored eight points. That was a full 44.4% of Magnolia Science Academy's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Avalon's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-9. As for Magnolia Science Academy, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
Everything came up roses for Avalon against Magnolia Science Academy in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 as the team secured a 58-8 win. With Avalon ahead 38-6 at the half, the match was all but over already.
