Softball Recap: Bryan County Has No Trouble Against Jenkins

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Emanuel County Institute, Bryan County was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Jenkins Warriors with a sharp 19-1 win. Considering the Redskins have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Lila Hannah looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Elizabeth Harvey, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in August. Peyton Scott was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.

Bryan County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jenkins only posted an OBP of .214.

Bryan County pushed their record up to 13-13 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Jenkins, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 11 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-19 record this season.

Bryan County will square off against Claxton at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Jenkins, they will take on Calvary Day at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Cavaliers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18.36 runs per game on average), something the Warriors will no doubt try to take advantage of.
