Soccer Game Preview: Banning vs. Eagle Rock

The Banning Pilots will square off against the Eagle Rock Eagles at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Banning's last three matches have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Banning is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They skirted past Hamilton 2-1. That's two games straight that Banning have won by just one goal.

Meanwhile, Eagle Rock had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 goals) and they went ahead and made it six on Thursday. They came within a single goal of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Golden Eagles. Given Eagle Rock's advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 88th, while King/Drew are ranked 475th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Abigail Velez and Fiona Walts scored all three of Eagle Rock's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 37 goals.

Banning's win bumped their record up to 15-4-1. As for Eagle Rock, their victory bumped their record up to 15-1.
