Soccer Game Preview: Chariton vs. Van Meter

The Chariton Chargers will face off against the Van Meter Bulldogs on Thursday. Chariton is coming into the contest hot, having won their last eight games.

Chariton took a four-goal defeat the last time they faced off against Hillcrest Academy, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Chargers had just enough and edged out the Ravens 2-1.

Meanwhile, Van Meter hasn't lost a match since April 12th, a trend which continued in their latest game on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand Grand View Christian a 6-0 shutout. Considering Van Meter have won 11 matchups by more than two goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Van Meter pushed their record up to 21-1-3 with the win, which was their 12th straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 69 goals over those 12 games. As for Chariton, their win bumped their record up to 14-1-2.
