Softball Recap: Mountain Vista Starts Season with Loss at Home

Mountain Vista unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Arvada West Wildcats by a score of 6-5 on Tuesday. If the Golden Eagles were looking for revenge after losing 12-2 to the Wildcats when the teams met back in August of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Shelby Chesser spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up 16 Ks.

On the hitting side, Lily Oss made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. Alexa Reinig was another key player, getting on base in two of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Mountain Vista didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 18-3 defeat against D'Evelyn on the 21st. As for Arvada West, they have also already played their next matchup, a 17-2 win against Castle View on the 22nd.
