There's no place like home for Chinle, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over the Window Rock Fighting Scouts on Wednesday. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Fighting Scouts recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Charmayne Charley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on six hits and racked up 11 Ks.
At the plate, Emerleen Begay was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two triples, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Tatum Tom, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Chinle was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Window Rock only posted a batting average of .192.
Chinle's victory bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Window Rock, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.
Chinle didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 4-2 defeat against Tuba City on the 14th. As for Window Rock, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 13-7 win against Ganado on the 11th.
