Basketball Recap: Williamsburg Finds Playoff Glory Versus Otto-Eldred

It's playoff time, and Williamsburg had no trouble coming through when it counted. They came out on top against the Otto-Eldred Terrors by a score of 47-36 on Wednesday. Given the Blue Pirates' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 56th, while the Terrors are ranked 200th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Williamsburg was led to victory by Levada Gorsuch and Anastasia Ranalli. Gorsuch went 7-for-10 en route to 17 points and eight rebounds, while Ranalli dropped a double-double with ten points and 12 boards. The match was Gorsuch's third in a row with at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Leeanna Royer, who posted ten points and seven rebounds.

Despite the defeat, Otto-Eldred saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ayla Van Scoter scored six points and six boards.

Williamsburg pushed their record up to 22-6 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 33.8 points. As for Otto-Eldred, their loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 23-6.

Looking ahead, Williamsburg will square off against Bishop Carroll on Saturday. Williamsburg is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.8 points per game this season. Otto-Eldred does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
