Football Game Preview: Las Cruces Bulldawgs vs. Los Lunas Tigers + Official Tickets

Two dominant backs in Daniel Amaro and Jagger Casillias are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Las Cruces Bulldawgs will face off against the Los Lunas Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Las Cruces' favor is that they have posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.

Las Cruces is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New Mexico's top teams: Centennial, who was ranked seventh at the time (Las Cruces was ranked first). The Bulldawgs walked away with a 31-21 win over the Hawks two weeks ago. The 31-point effort marked the Bulldawgs' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Las Cruces to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gunnar Guardiola, who threw for 328 yards and a pair of TDs. Those 328 passing yards gave Guardiola a new career-high. Francisco Winnikoff also helped out as he racked up 160 receiving yards.

Las Cruces didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Hunter Parmeter and Mateo Montoya. Parmeter is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least nine every time he's taken the field this season. Another thorn in Centennial's side was Vaughn Romney, who picked up a sack and made seven total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Los Lunas had no problem doing just that on Friday. They managed a 28-24 victory over the Panthers. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won five in a row.

Las Cruces' record is now 10-0. As for Los Lunas, their record now sits at 8-3.

Everything came up roses for Las Cruces against Los Lunas in their previous matchup back in November of 2023, as the team secured a 42-6 victory. In that matchup, the Bulldawgs amassed a halftime lead of 28-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
