Softball Recap: Chamblee Comes Up Short

Chamblee extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping them down to 11-12. They lost 11-3 to the Southwest DeKalb Panthers. Bulldogs fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Panthers since Monday.

Madison Jones was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run.

As for Southwest DeKalb, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 12.2 runs.

On Southwest DeKalb's side, Makayla Dixon made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. Dixon has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted since September 2nd.

In other batting news, Madelyn Flournoy was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in September of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kennedi Thomas, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chamblee will welcome Dunwoody at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will need to watch out since the Wildcats have now posted at least ten runs in their last four games. As for Southwest DeKalb, they will face off against Clarkston at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
