Basketball Game Preview: Pierce Bears vs. Anderson Cubs

The Pierce Bears and the Anderson Cubs will meet on Wednesday for a tough Bear Battle. Anderson took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Pierce, who comes in off a win.

Last Friday, Pierce beat Winters 36-28.

Pierce's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Magali Jauregui led the charge by putting up 18 points. Another player making a difference was Rylie Delepierre, who posted ten points in addition to six boards and five steals.

Meanwhile, Anderson ended up a good deal behind University Prep on Tuesday and lost 68-51. While losing is never fun, the Cubs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 614th, while the Panthers are ranked 45th).

This is the second loss in a row for Anderson and nudges their season record down to 8-8. As for Pierce, their win bumped their record up to 9-5.

Pierce was able to grind out a solid victory over Anderson in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, winning 31-23. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Anderson's Taylor Ford, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds.
