Volleyball Recap: Alma Center Lincoln Takes a Loss

Alma Center Lincoln was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Independence/Gilmanton Indees. The Hornets were not able to make up for their loss to the Indees from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

Alma Center Lincoln actually scored more points across those five sets (103-100), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-23, 24-26, 11-25, 15-9.

When it comes to explaining why Alma Center Lincoln lost, don't look at Mikeala Wagner. Despite the final result, she had 45 digs and three aces. Wagner is crushing it when it comes to digs: she's had at least 15 every time she's taken the court this season.

Independence/Gilmanton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Danika Ekern led the charge by getting 19 digs and two aces. Another player making a difference was Yuritza Bautista, who had 15 digs.

Alma Center Lincoln's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Independence/Gilmanton, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-9.

Alma Center Lincoln wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-2 victory against Pepin/Alma on the 7th. As for Independence/Gilmanton, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Osseo-Fairchild on the 9th.
