Basketball Recap: Coleville Comes Up Short

If Coleville was feeling good fresh off their 55-14 takedown of Mammoth back in December of 2024, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Coleville Wolves were beaten by the Pyramid Lake Lakers 62-22 on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Wolves in their matchups with the Lakers: they've now lost six in a row.

Despite the defeat, Coleville saw an underclassman step up: freshman Kenna Lange posted three points in addition to nine rebounds, five assists, and four steals. Lange is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played.

Even though they lost, Coleville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive matchups.

Pyramid Lake's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Olivia Lara, who had 12 points. Another player making a difference was Aiyana Collins, who put up ten points.

Coleville's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Pyramid Lake, their victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-5.

Coleville didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 44-28 defeat against Virginia City on the 4th. As for Pyramid Lake, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 70-11 win against Mineral County on the 4th.
