Etna extends home losing streak to four

Recap: Etna Lions vs. Hoopa Valley Warriors

The Etna Lions managed to keep up with the Hoopa Valley Warriors until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Etna was dealt a 78-32 loss at the hands of Hoopa Valley. While losing is never fun, Etna can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 783rd, while Hoopa Valley is ranked 198th).

Hoopa Valley got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Harmony Nelson out in front who scored 16 points along with six assists and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Tashee Tracy, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 19 rebounds.

Etna bumped their record down to 4-9 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Hoopa Valley, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Etna will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Tulelake at 4:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024. Hoopa Valley will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Ferndale at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
