Basketball Recap: Coleville Takes a Loss

Coleville lost against Eureka back in February of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Coleville Wolves were beaten by the Eureka Vandals 57-12. While losing is never fun, the Wolves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 53rd in California, while the Vandals are ranked fourth in Nevada).

Ashley Tovar was Coleville's leading scorer, having posted seven points. Kenna Lange held things down on the boards with six rebounds. She took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with three assists.

It was another big night for Megan Johnson, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds for Eureka. Johnson is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 30 games she's played dating back to last season. Natalie Gray was another key player, going 7 for 11 on her way to 14 points and three steals.

Coleville has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season. As for Eureka, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Coleville didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 37-29 defeat against Pahranagat Valley on the 14th. As for Eureka, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 64-22 win against Round Mountain on the 13th.
