Baseball Game Preview: Coventry Oakers vs. Smithfield Sentinels

For the second straight game, Coventry will face off against Smithfield. The Oakers will look to defend their home field on Saturday against the Sentinels at 12:00 p.m.

Coventry fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Smithfield on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Sentinels by a score of 5-4.

For Smithfield's part, Jacob Sylvester was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that Sylvester has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Johnny Brown, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Coventry dropped their record down to 3-15 with the loss, which was their 11th straight at home. As for Smithfield, their win bumped their record up to 11-8.
