Softball Recap: Eugene Comes Up Short

Eugene extended their losing streak to four on Saturday, dropping them down to 3-6. They came up short against Southern Boone, falling 10-1. The matchup marked Eugene's lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

As for Southern Boone, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 18-7. Considering they have won eight games by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

For Southern Boone's part, Brenna Young spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up ten Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Abigail Haskamp, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted over her last 11 contests. Kaylie Foreman was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.

Looking ahead, Eugene will take on New Bloomfield at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Southern Boone, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 14-3 win against Owensville on the 27th.
