Softball Recap: Weld Central Takes a Loss

Weld Central extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping them down to 2-3. They took a 13-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rocky Ford Meloneers. The Rebels were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Meloneers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.

Jadeyn Sifuentes was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Reagan Sharp also deserves some recognition as she got her first hits of the season.

As for Rocky Ford, the win got them back to even at 2-2. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Rocky Ford's side, Alysia Marquez was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over six innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave Marquez a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Rocky Ford got a massive performance out of Annesyiah Camacho, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Tay'Lor Archuleta, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Weld Central didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 12-1 victory against Limon on the 23rd. As for Rocky Ford, they have also already played their next matchup, a 12-3 defeat against University on the 23rd.
