Baseball Recap: Branham Bruins vs. Christopher Cougars

Branham had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 7-15 to make it four. They came up short against the Christopher Cougars, falling 9-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-1 on Tuesday.

Branham saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gabe Migues, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

As for Christopher, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-11. They not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since March 27th (when they won 14-2).

On Christopher's side, Jacob Vasquez was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Those eight strikeouts gave Vasquez a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hayden Griep, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Diego Alcantar was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs.

Coming up, Branham is taking a road trip to take on Santa Teresa at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last four games the Saints have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Christopher, they will be playing at home against Piedmont Hills at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
