Basketball Recap: Hanford West Gets the Win

Hanford West won the last time they faced Mission Oak and things went their way on Thursday too. The Hanford West Huskies slipped by the Mission Oak Hawks 55-54. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Huskies.

Hanford West can attribute much of their success to Mckenzee Batemon, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 boards. Those 19 points gave Batemon a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Skyelar Smith, who posted 11 points and six rebounds.

Hanford West was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mission Oak only racked up six assists.

Mission Oak's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Braelyn Serpa, who put up 23 points and four steals, and Aiyana Murray, who earned nine points along with six rebounds and five steals. The matchup was Serpa's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dannee Faria, who had seven points.

Hanford West has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 5-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.3 points per game. As for Mission Oak, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-5.

Hanford West didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 52-36 loss against Righetti on the 26th. As for Mission Oak, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 57-54 win against Corcoran on the 26th.
