South Tahoe takes loss despite strong efforts from Ava Wolfe and Campbell Mathews

Recap: South Tahoe Vikings vs. North Valleys Panthers

It was a good run, but the South Tahoe Vikings unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 61-49 to North Valleys. South Tahoe found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and rack up seven fewer assists than your opponent.

Despite the loss, South Tahoe had strong showings from Campbell Mathews, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 15 rebounds, and Ava Wolfe, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. That's the first time this season that Wolfe pulled down eight or more rebounds.

North Valleys' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Annika Hester, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that Hester scored 15 or more points. Alexys DeCremer was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight assists and six steals.

South Tahoe's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-8. As for North Valleys, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Tahoe will take on Truckee at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for North Valleys, they will be playing at home against Hug at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hug will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nevada Rankings (they are ranked 90th, while North Valleys is ranked 18th).
