Softball Recap: Jefferson Comes Up Short

Jefferson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 13th straight loss. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bishop Heelan Catholic Crusaders. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Yellowjackets couldn't push the score so high this time.

Carley Steinspring spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on 12 hits.

On the hitting side, Jefferson saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Van Soelen, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Jefferson's defeat dropped their record down to 4-18. As for Bishop Heelan Catholic, their victory ended a 13-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 7-6.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Jefferson beat the Crusaders by a score of 12-4 later that day.
